New Login Tool Required for OPM’s Retirement Services Online Starting May 26

May 23, 2022 My Federal Retirement

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has notified all federal retirees and annuitants that starting May 26, 2022 they will be required to access OPM’s Retirement Services Online account using Login.gov.

Retirement Services Online provides access for federal retirees to manage their annuity payment information, federal and state tax withholding, tax forms, and other benefits.

Login.gov is the federal government’s secure login tool. Many retirees may already have a Login.gov account if they use other online services such as Social Security. In such cases, they will not need to create another Login.gov account and can link their existing Login.gov account to OPM Retirement Services Online.

OPM has provided a guide to linking its Services Online Account with Login.gov. It includes a step-by process for signing up, setting a password, verifying an email address, and securing the account.

The guide also includes instructions on how to unlink a Login.gov account if the user loses access or wants to link a different login.gov account to OPM’s services.

Login.gov also has a help center that gives guidance on getting started and answers frequently asked questions.
