OPM: No Delay in Processing Federal Retirement Applications or Annuity Payments

April 2, 2020 My Federal Retirement

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Retirement Services Customer Service department published a special notice on its website today regarding the status of annuity payments to federal retirees and annuitants.

The notice read:

“COVID-19 has not affected Retirement Services’ ability to process applications or deliver timely payments. We understand the importance of the payments and services we provide and are standing by to help. We ask that you continue to use our electronic self-service options and information available on Services Online or email us at retire@opm.gov whenever possible. Thank you for your patience.”

Social Security Benefit Payments Will Continue As Normal

In a statement last week,  Andrew Saul, Commissioner of Social Security, said: “I want you to hear directly from me how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting our services. The first thing you should know is that we continue to pay benefits.”

As of March 17, Social Security’s field offices were closed due to the COVID-19 virus.   “To protect you and help stop the spread of this coronavirus, we cannot accept visitors in our offices at this time,” said Saul.    Online services remain available at www.socialsecurity.gov,
