Another Large FEHB Provider Offers Federal Employees a Credit for Vaccination

July 2, 2021 My Federal Retirement

GEHA, the second largest medical benefit provider in the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program, announced this week that its enrollees will be eligible for a $75 COVID-19 vaccination credit starting July 1.

Last month, Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) Government-Wide Service Benefit launched a similar program with a $50 incentive to eligible members of its medical plans.

“As the second largest medical benefit provider of federal employees, GEHA is committed to helping safeguard the health and safety of the U.S. Federal workforce, and combatting COVID-19 has been at the top of the priority list for more than a year,” said Interim President and CEO of GEHA Rich Bierman.

Eligible members are GEHA medical plan members who are 18 years of age and older, enrolled in a GEHA wellness program and have not reached their annual wellness program reward limit. When eligible members provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination, they will receive a $75 credit to their GEHA wellness account.

According to GEHA, program participants can use the Vaccination Incentive Program credit on qualified medical expenses such as office visits, co-pays, prescription drugs, eyeglasses, contacts and X-rays.

More detailed information is available on the GEHA website here.
