April 11, 2018 My Federal Retirement

Federal employees working in six areas of the U.S. may become part of the locality pay rate definitions starting in January 2019, FederalNewsRadio.com reported yesterday.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Federal Salary Council are considering the following  locality pay areas for 2019:

  • Birmingham, Alabama *
  • Omaha, Nebraska
  • Corpus Christi, Texas
  • San Antonio, Texas *
  • Virginia Beach/Norfolk, Virginia *
  • Burlington, Vermont *

The President’s Pay Agent (a group consisting of the OPM director, Labor secretary, and the Office of Management and Budget director)  previously approved four of the six areas (marked with * above) and will need to get approval for Omaha and Corpus Christi.  OPM believes it may be able to combine all six areas through a single rulemaking process.
