Trump’s 2018 Budget Proposal Raises Concern for Layoffs and Retirement Planning for Federal Employees

The Trump administration this week released its first budget blueprint for fiscal year 2018 which includes many proposed cuts to agency budgets.  Such cuts in discretionary government spending raise the concern for many federal employees of layoffs — and how those layoffs could affect their retirement plans.

Agencies Affected by Proposed 2018 Budget Cuts

While President Trump’s proposals must be approved by Congress, the agencies that could face budget trimming are listed in the table below. (The full budget proposal can be downloaded here (62-page PDF)
