Managers Group Issues List of Concerns for NSPS to GS Schedule Transition Affecting DOD Federal Employees
The Federal Managers Association (FMA) released a statement last week to ensure that none of the 226,000 Department of Defense (DoD) federal employees currently in the National Security Personnel System (NSPS) are "negatively impacted in an unjust manner" during their transition back to their former pay system.
The enactment of the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act signified the end of the controversial NSPS pay-for-performance system. DoD officials recently stated that employees in NSPS will be transistioned back to their former pay system (many to the General Schedule) by October 2010 -- a year earlier than expected. "We ... believe aggressive steps must be taken to protect the interests of the DOD civilians who labored and succeeded under a system they did not ask to be a part of and who may be adversely impacted by a conversion back to their previous personnel systems," FMA stated.
