Women Face Greater Challenges in Saving for Retirement Due to Recession

Printer-Friendly Format

While the recession has impacted most workers' outlook for retirement, women's outlook has fared worse, according to a recent survey.

The survey data highlights some areas of concern, including a number of life circumstances that present challenges with regards to saving adequately for retirement:

  • A longer life expectancy.
  • Different life priorities such as being a single parent or caregiver that may require time away from the workforce or part-time employment.
  • Lower median salary
