45 FEHB Providers Clear OPM's Standard for Safer, More Efficient Care
February 12, 2010

Over the past few years, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has

encouraged providers in the Federal Employees Benefit Plans (FEHB) to

increase their use of health information technology (HIT).

According to OPM, HIT can help FEHB healthcare providers deliver safer more

efficient care. Using HIT, OPM sates, a health plan can offer

employees tools to help them organize their health information,

access information targeted to health needs, and determine the quality and

price/cost of the doctors, hospitals and other providers that employees and

their families use for day-to-day healthcare needs.

Earlier this month, OPM released a list of 45 FEHB providers that meet their

HIT standards.

To view the list (which OPM states will be updated as other plans bring these

tools online) go here: href="http://www.opm.gov/insure/health/reference/hittransparency.asp">http://www.opm.gov/insure/health/reference/hittransparency.asp
