Pay-for-Performance for All Federal Employees Debate Continues
June 25, 2009

Earlier this week, My Federal Retirement href="http://www.myfederalretirement.com/public/429.cfm">reported

the House is expected to vote soon on an amendment to the 2010 defense

authorization bill that could end the NSPS pay-for-performance system for

Department of Defense employees within one year -- a change affecting

approximately 200,000 federal employees.

But the broader debate regarding pay reform continues -- particularly

that the Obama administration stated earlier this year that it favors a

pay-for-performance program for all federal employees.

GovExec.com writes today about the debate:

"As the Obama administration attempts

to reform the federal pay system, officials are picking their way through a

minefield of alternative pay systems, hoping to learn lessons from existing

projects while making sure no employee is treated unfairly."  href="http://www.govexec.com/story_page.cfm?filepath=/dailyfed/0609/062609pb.htm"
