2009 Federal Pay Raise:
3.9% Increase for Federal Employees
UPDATE: October 15, 2008

Congress passed and the

President signed legislation for the 2009 federal pay raise providing a 3.9 percent overall average increase for General Schedule employees.

However, the statute authorizes

the President to allocate the overall increase between an across-the-board

increase and locality payments that vary by locality.  The 2009 pay

tables for 2009 will be issued after the President issues an Executive

Order allocating the overall increase between an across-the-board increase and

locality pay and establishes locality pay rates for 2009.
