CSRS Deposit Service
(Non-Deduction Service)

What is CSRS deposit service?

Deposit service (also called "non-deduction service") is the period of

service during which retirement contributions were not withheld from your

salary. Some examples could include temporary time, or time while working

on an intermittent work schedule.

As a CSRS employee, paying the deposit is a personal choice and its effect is

dependent upon when the service was performed.

The cost of the deposit is the amount of retirement deductions that would

have been taken from your salary had you been covered by the CSRS retirement

system, plus interest. (href="http://www.myfederalretirement.com/public/105.cfm">Click here to view
